My name is Jesse Stearns.
I had just been diagnosed with a brain tumor that nearly could have ruined my life. However, with the assistance and help of my bosses, i was able to begin to beat this CANCER.
I was at work and thought I was having just a migraine headache. My boss had me go to the ER room at URMC or Strong Hospital in Rochester NY.
On Tuesday ( March 24, 2016) I had a mild headache and I was unable to work with people. I was having difficulty in letting my co-workers know that I was having difficulty in letting people know what was going on.
When I got home, I took a Naproxin and my wife went to McDonalds to get me some food.
On Wednesday, I got up and had a Naproxin right away. This seems to have held me over for the day. I was able to eat lunch and even went out to the bar to enjoy the night life as my wife was on Spring Break. So we went and had a garbage plate!
On Thursday, I didn't take any pills. I had a normal morning, but around lunchtime I had another Migraine Attack, which I had never experienced before.
When I returned to my office, I wasn't able to get out the information from my head out to my boss. My boss then asked if I should call my doctor. So I tried. I was't able to get the information to get to my doctors office. My boss convinced me that I needed to go get this checked out. So, I traveled to the ER at Strong and waited. By the time my wife got there, I was already not feeling bad anymore. After being there for almost 4 hours, I was about to leave. However they just needed me to do some blood work and then took a CAT scan. This is where EVERYTHING changed. When I came out of the cat scan, the doctor or nurse came over and said to me that we needed to be admitted to the hospital and I was not going to be able to go home.
Can you imagine the horror that went through my head?? Can you imagine the fact that I married this woman last July 25, and I now had to tell her that I had a brain tumor. My frontal lobe was a mess. The brain had been pushed over and we were now looking at it as it had been lowered to the right side of my brain.
Can you imagine how it is to call your Mother, who would have had no idea. Can you imagine my Father?
The next few days were a blessing. My entire family came in from all over the country. My brother and sister came in from Brooklyn and my other brother came in from Pheonix. My sister and her family works in the hospital that we ended up having it done at.
First of all, we had Doctor Maurer and Dr Kimmel. These are two of the absolute best Doctors you will ever meet.
